Equine Services
At Uplands Way, we have knowledge and experience of a wide range of equines and their ailments, from minature horses to giant Poitou donkeys, African zebras to Suffolk Punches, Thelwell ponies to competition horses. In order to diagnose and treat these equines to a high standard of care, we have the following portable facilities available:
- Radiography
- Endoscopy
- Ultrasonography
- Fertility services
- Certain surgical procedures, under both local and general anaesthesia
- Dental examination and treatment. We also work closely alongside an experienced dental technician, to whom we refer more major procedures.
For more complex surgical procedures we recommend referral to Rossdale and Partners in Newmarket who we have found to offer the highest standards of care to our clients.
We take other aspects of equine healthcare very seriously and work closely with John Blake, an experienced remedial farrier who specialises in the treatment and management of laminitis. We can also advise our clients of providers of “alternative” therapies such as chiropractic and McTimoney treatment, and physiotherapy.

As a practice, we have accumulated a broad base of experience through working with the grazing ponies owned by the major conservation bodies in Norfolk and Suffolk, the wide range of horses and ponies at World Horse Welfare (formerly the ILPH) in Snetterton, the heavy horses at Banham Zoo and the endurance horses competing at local events, at which we provide veterinary cover. This has equipped us to deal with both the routine and unusual cases.
