Farm Animal
We provide a comprehensive 24 hour service for all farm animals from routine herd/flock health visits to emergency caesareans. Routine weekly/fortnightly visits can be arranged with the practice manager for cattle fertility checks and ultrasound scanning for pregnancy diagnosis from 4 weeks gestation.
Herd/Flock Health Schemes we use in conjunction with advisory visits are:
- Assured British Pigs
- Sheep and Goat Health Scheme
- BCVA Herd Health Scheme (Andy is Level 1 certified)
- White Gold Herd Health Scheme
- Dairy Herd Health and Productivity Scheme (Edinburgh Scheme)
Operations (i.e. LDA, Caesarean section) are generally performed on the farm, but costs can be reduced by bringing the smaller ruminants (calves, sheep) into the surgery where we have an operating theatre available for them. All of our nurses at the Diss surgery are experienced in nursing farm animal surgical procedures.
Disease outbreak investigations, including post mortem examinations, can be performed as required, often in conjunction with the Veterinary Laboratory Agency at Bury St Edmunds. This can include cost benefit analysis of treating the problem if necessary.

We are fully committed to supporting British Agriculture in Norfolk and Suffolk and if you would like to discuss your livestock with us please contact Andy, Hannah or the Practice Manager at the surgery.
